Description
Stanhope Hall Mill is an early 19th-century mill constructed from coursed roughly-squared sandstone, featuring quoins and pecked ashlar dressings. The roof is made of graduated Lakeland slate, except for the two right bays, which are covered with Welsh slate. The building has three storeys and six bays, with the left bay being blank apart from a boarded door on the ground floor. There is a wide segmental arch above double boarded doors in the fifth bay. The windows have flat stone lintels and projecting stone sills, with sashes that include glazing bars; the top floor features square windows. An overshot wheel is located on the left return, although it was obscured by vegetation at the time of the survey. The mill is included for its group value.
