Description
West Hoe Pier is a structure built in 1880, located in Plymouth. It consists of piers and walls that enclose a basin, constructed from Plymouth limestone rubble laid to course. The basin has an irregular plan with a retaining wall on the landward side, short shaped return walls, and two jetties that run approximately parallel to the shore, with a harbour entrance in between. There are steps with landings, including a broad flight of steps leading to the shore wall, another flight to the right-hand wall on the seaward side, and three flights of recessed steps leading to the jetties, with a seaward flight to each jetty and an inner flight to the right-hand jetty.
