Description

The quay walls at West Looe, including a viaduct, likely incorporate elements from the 18th century but were substantially rebuilt in the mid-19th century and late 19th century. They are constructed from slate rubble with granite copings and some granite dressings. At the southern end, a road and viaduct have been built against the cliff face. The viaduct features three bays of segmental arches. Projecting turrets flank the viaduct, with corbelled details at the top and ventilator slits. These turrets have rounded terminals. The group value of these substantial structures lies in their contribution to the character and appearance of the harbourside.
