Description

The former Tredegar Arms Hotel and Lloyd's Bank, also known as Yates's, is a building designed in the Interwar Classical style. It stands four storeys tall, featuring bathstone on the first floor, which is channelled, and a ground floor made of Portland stone. Starting from the left at the High Street end, the building has a block of five windows that transitions into Station Approach. The alternating bays include a pedimented window with a balcony at the second floor level. Following this, there is a block of five bays marked by Ionic columns that span the second and third floors. Another bay features a pedimented window at the second floor level, similar to the earlier design. This is followed by another block of five bays with Ionic columns, which are convex, as it turns into Cambrian Road. Finally, there is a section of five windows, with the end bays again showcasing pedimented windows at the second floor level. The ground floor has heavy blocking to the openings, reflecting influences from the ancient Near East.
