Description

Priory Lodge is a small two-storey cottage built in the Olde English style of George Devey, constructed from red sandstone rubble with some ashlar dressings and topped with an asbestos slate roof. The entrance elevation features two bays, with the left bay showcasing an external two-flue stack that has off-sets, although the tall pots have been removed. It includes a gabled porch with verges, a dripmould, and a plank door. To the right, there is a 4-light mullion-and-transom window, with each light containing 1 over 3 panes, set within a chamfered surround. Above this window, a gable projects on stone corbels and timber brackets, featuring timber framing rendered at the front and a modern casement window, along with fretted bargeboards and a spike finial.

The right elevation is entirely in stone and includes a small 3-pane window and a pointed arch plank door below, with a 2-light casement window in an eaves dormer above, also featuring fretted bargeboards. Adjacent to this is a tall single-flue stack with a decorative pot, likely similar to the one removed from the front. The garden elevation has two gables, with the left one likely being an extension that closely matches the original character. The front gable includes a canted bay with 4-pane windows flanking a 4 + 4 pane casement window, topped with a slated roof. Above this, there is a 3 + 3 casement window. The rear gable features a plain 3-light window with four panes below and a 3 + 3 casement above. Both gables are adorned with fretted bargeboards and spike finials, and there is a 2-flue stack at the rear. The rear elevation includes a small modern extension. The interior was not available for inspection at the time of resurvey.
