Description

The barn at Church Farm is a 20th-century structure featuring stone rubble walls topped with modern corrugated asbestos roof cladding, while the granary has a pantiled roof. Each long wall includes two ventilator slits with internal timber lintels flanking a wide central entrance. The gable ends also have ventilator slits, some of which are blocked. The central entrance is fitted with vertically boarded wooden doors and horizontal boarding above. The east doorway shows signs of sagging in the wall-plate and lintel.

To the north-east of the barn, there is a low forecourt wall made of stone rubble with ramped coping, which extends north-west to form a boundary with the road before connecting to a small outbuilding (granary) at the barn's north-east end. This outbuilding features two brick arches in its south-east wall, serving as an implement shed, and a flight of steps leading to a boarded door (granary) with a small window on the north-east side.

Attached to the north-west end of the barn is a lean-to structure (cowshed) with stone walls and a wide doorway that is partly blocked on the south-west side. The north-west end wall of the barn has a battered base, while the north-east wall of the lean-to, which is shared with a small outbuilding at the barn's north-east end, contains an old blocked ventilator slit.

Inside, the barn boasts a five-bay collar-truss roof with pegged and roughly chamfered trusses that have run-out stops, likely repurposed from a house, although collars are missing from three of the trusses. The roof also includes two tiers of staggered purlins, a ridge piece, and rafters, most of which remain largely original.
