Description

Nos. 7-9 (consec) Priory Street Stucco fronted and painted convex terrace of three double depth houses with shops, Welsh slate roofs. An almost balanced design where No. 8 has a temple front with Ionic pilasters through the upper floors and a pediment over, while Nos. 7 & 9 have one bay set slightly forward, but No. 9 has an additional bay over the entry to the lane. Three storeys, nine windows to whole on first floor, No. 7 has two windows, No. 8 has three and No. 9 has four. Varied ground floors. No. 7 has a doorcase with broken pediment, radiating fanlight and 6-panel door; early C20 double shopfront. Fanlight and panelled door to No. 8 also but plain arched doorway, and good early C19 shopfront. No. 9 has a later C19 shopfront and the set forward bay continues to the ground with a recessed arch with imposts and a window with radiating head; to the left of this is the plain arch to the lane. First floor windows all 6 over 6 pane sashes with stone cills. Second floor ones are 3 over 3 pane. Low pitch roof with rendered stacks. Plain rear elevations.
