Description
Nos. 7-9 Priory Street form a stucco-fronted and painted terrace of three double-depth houses with shops, featuring Welsh slate roofs. The design is almost balanced, with No. 8 having a temple front incorporating Ionic pilasters extending through the upper floors, topped by a pediment. Nos. 7 and 9 have one bay projecting slightly, although No. 9 has an additional bay above the entry to the lane. The terrace is three storeys high, with nine windows across the front on the first floor; No. 7 has two windows, No. 8 has three, and No. 9 has four. The ground floor fronts have varied shopfronts. No. 7 has a doorcase with a broken pediment, a radiating fanlight, and a six-panel door, along with an early 20th-century shopfront. No. 8 has a fanlight and panelled door, accessed through a plain arched doorway, and a good early 19th-century shopfront. No. 9 features a later 19th-century shopfront, and the projecting bay continues to the ground floor with a recessed arch and imposts, surmounted by a window with a radiating head. To the left of this is a plain arch leading to a lane. The first-floor windows are 6 over 6 pane sash windows with stone cills. The second-floor windows are 3 over 3 pane. The terrace has a low-pitched roof with rendered stacks. The rear elevations are plain. The interior was not inspected during a recent survey.
