Description
The former detached kitchen or malt house at Cwmerra is a small single-storey outbuilding dating from the 18th century. It features rubble stone walls and a gabled roof covered with stone tiles arranged in diminishing courses, along with a stone end-stack. The front has an off-centre entrance door made of plank and batten, which has applied fillets. The window openings are fitted with angled dripstones that have dropped and returned ends. To the left, there is a 20th-century five-light reserve chamfer mullion window with three panes per light, and to the right, a similar four-light mullion window. The rear elevation includes a projecting wing on the left, and to the right, at the angle between the wing and the main building, there is a small gabled stair wing that has an attached bread oven. The wing features 20th-century three-light mullions on both the ground and first floors, while the stair wing has a two-light mullion window.
Inside, there is a large room with stone-flagged flooring. The ceiling has 20th-century chamfered joists with run-out stops. The upper floor reveals an exposed collar truss in the wing.
