Description
The gatepiers and wall at Great Pool Hall are constructed from rubble and cut stone, forming a mortared wall in rough courses. They are located on the northwest side of Great Pool Hall, flanking the entrance. The square gatepiers slightly project forward and rise above the wall coping, topped with thin stone slabs that oversail by four courses. The wall to the left of the gatepiers stands about 3 meters high and is also topped with a coping of thin stone slabs that oversail by two courses. To the left, there is a short return section that abuts the house. On the right side, flanking the left gatepier, there is a segmental arched doorway featuring stone voussoirs, a projecting keystone, and a chamfered surround with rebated jambs. The flat coped wall to the right extends beyond the gatepier for approximately 5 meters before merging with the boundary wall to the northwest.
