Description
Moynes Cottage is a two-storey house with an attic, built from random sandstone rubble and topped with a Welsh slate roof. The house has three bays, with the left bay possibly being an addition due to a change in the stonework. On the ground floor, there is a 3 + 3 light casement window on the left, a part-glazed door in the centre leading to a cross-passage, and the right bay is obscured by a single-storey lean-to addition with a pantiled roof. The first floor features three 3 + 3 casement windows, while the attic is lit by garret windows. The roof is plain, with a brick chimney stack on the left gable and another red brick stack at the back, likely adjacent to the cross-passage. The rear elevation has not been seen.
The interior was not accessible during the resurvey, but the positions of the door and chimney suggest a layout with a cross-passage, a hall to the right, and a parlour to the left. It is possible that the left room was originally unheated, and the fireplace in the left gable may have been added later.
