Description

This is a traditional lychgate situated at the Church of St Tewdric. It was constructed using stone and oak, with a tiled roof. The side walls are built of roughly squared white limestone rubble, with red sandstone ashlar used for the ends and coping stones. Each wall supports an oak plate which carries three posts; these posts support arch-braced collar beams. The collar beams are cranked and brattished, and they hold king-posts which support the steeply pitched roof. The roof features elaborately carved bargeboards and serrated ridge tiles.
