Description
A combination farm building with an integral stable. Built of coursed squared sandstone with a weatherboarded timber-framed S gable and red clay pantiled roof. Four structural bays on N-S axis, with the stable at the N end. The E front has a doorway offset right of centre, originally almost 2m wide but reduced about 50cm on the right-hand side, with a set-in oak doorframe almost 20cm wide, and a batten-and-board stable door. Either side of the doorway is an unglazed 4-light wooden mullioned window with an oak lintel and a set-in chamfered frame and sturdy diamond-set mullions; and at the right-hand end is a stable doorway. The S gable wall has a central doorway, a 4-pane fixed window to the right, and a weather-boarded timber framed gable.
The stable at the N bay contains a wooden hayrack and stalls for 3 horses. The main body of the building is lofted at both ends, and there are 3 pegged collar trusses of good quality, the middle one with tie-beam and queen struts and the others open, carrying 3 tiers of trenched purlins.
