Description
Wonastow Lodge is an early 19th-century lodge. It features a single-story square front block made of roughcast render sitting on a stone plinth, topped with a pyramidical slate roof and a large rendered chimney with a cornice at the apex. At the rear, there is a lower block with a slate roof and a brick chimney at the end. The front has three bays and an almost full-width shallow gable, which includes a central doorway with a six-panelled door. The doorway is framed by a pedimented porch supported by squat Doric columns on plinths, with seats on either side and a trellis above the seats. Above the porch, in the apex of the gable, is a shield featuring a raised clover-leaf cross. On either side of the porch are single round-headed blank arches, each containing a square-headed 12-pane sash window. The side walls also have shallow gables similar to the front; the left side features a blank arch like those at the front, which contains a round-headed sash window with radiating glazing bars, while the right side has a modern window.
