Description

Clemendy Cottage comprises a pair of cottages with Georgian frontages, located at Nos. 12-14 New Market Street. The cottages date to the Georgian period. The exterior of No. 14 is roughcast and painted, while No. 12 is unpainted. Both cottages have a slate roof with ridge and end stacks, with two of the stacks being roughcast and one of brick.

No. 14 has a two-window range on the first floor, featuring 12-pane sash windows set in reveals. The ground floor has a low-set window to the right and a shallow, multi-pane canted bay window to the left. A central doorway is sheltered by a hood with decorative cast-iron brackets, and has a 20th-century glazed door. There is a shallow plinth.

No. 12 has a very similar frontage to No. 14; it retains a six-panel door with glazed upper lights. It also features an additional bay, defined by a pilaster strip, and contains one similar upper window and one small ground floor casement window.
