Description
5 New Market Street is a townhouse with a Georgian-style front, attached on one side. The building is finished with stucco render and paint, topped with a slate roof featuring end stacks, one of which is rendered and the other brick. It has two storeys and a two-window range of 12-pane sash windows set in reveals. The ground floor features a wide projecting hipped roof porch bay that is enclosed with multi-pane windows and a partially glazed door, alongside a low recessed side boarded door. All openings are positioned towards the centre and right of the front, while the left side is blank, suggesting an earlier origin. The rear cross wing, which faces the street, is lower and includes a small casement window under the eaves and a ground floor 12-pane casement window with a segmental-arched head. The building also has a painted plinth.
