Description

67 Bridge Street is a late Victorian business premises constructed of yellow brick, featuring contrasting red brick dressings and black and white paintwork. The building has a slate roof with a tall yellow brick ridge stack and stands three storeys high, divided into two units.

On the right side, the frontage culminates in a tall swept parapet that contains a central semicircular window with a moulded brick surround, positioned above a shallow balcony topped with a hipped and swept lead roof and a moulded balustrade, which overlooks a triple window behind. There are blind openings on either side of this feature. The first floor showcases two unequally canted bay display windows, with a central recessed glazed door leading to a small balcony adorned with a wrought iron balustrade and a narrow decorative fascia.

The ground floor shopfront features a deep bracketed fascia with a billet frieze and a wide shop window that includes slender mullions and a part glazed door on the right. The left unit is much narrower and has a steep red brick gable above the top floor window, which is a sash window with margin glazing in the top light. The first floor has a tripartite sash window with red brick voussoirs and a keystone. The ground floor retains a fascia that continues with the main unit, beneath which is the wide original main entrance that features a wrought iron gate and screen incorporating the shop name 'Bunning'; there is also a further narrow doorway with a double overlight adjacent at the left end. The building is accentuated by raised enriched terracotta quoins on each side.
