Description
The barn at Parc Llettis Farm is a 19th-century structure built from local red sandstone rubble arranged in thin courses, featuring some dressed openings and timber framing. The roof is covered with corrugated asbestos sheeting. Originally, the barn had opposed central entries, but now the main entry is located in the west gable.
On the long south elevation, there are three slit vents to the right of a central entry that is now closed off with concrete blocks. Heavy ivy growth on the left side conceals additional slit vents. The gable end features modern sliding doors in a doorway that has been broken through, along with a 19th-century taking-in door leading to a hayloft above. The north elevation has a modern brick lean-to covering the right-hand end. In the center, there are cart doors, and to the left, there are three bays of timber framing with louvres. The east gable is a plain wall.
Internally, the barn is now a single space, although it once had a hayloft at the west end, likely with a cow house underneath. The roof consists of seven bays with queen strut trusses, three tiers of trenched purlins, and a ridge piece. While there have been repairs and reinforcements to the roof, most of the timber, including the secondary rafters, remains original.
