Description

Parc Llettis is a house dating to the 17th century, built of local red sandstone rubble, although the stonework shows variations and evidence of patching and rebuilding. The rear of the house is partly rendered and has natural slate roofing, while the bay windows and porch have stone slate roofs. The house is organised around a single-depth central entry plan, though this is complicated by later changes. It comprises two storeys and an attic to the main block, with a two-storey wing and a modern single-storey extension at the rear.

The front elevation has three bays, slightly offset to the left, with an additional single bay wing in line to the right. A gabled stone porch shelters the central doorway, and the gable features a stone figure of a screaming man, its date uncertain but possibly medieval or from the 16th or 17th century, potentially a gargoyle or figure. Flanking the entrance are bay windows, a two-light window on the left and a three-light window on the right, each with six-over-six pane sash windows. The first floor features three six-over-six pane sash windows. The steeply pitched roof has deep eaves and stone stacks to each gable; the left-hand stack is external to the wall and is part of a later build, while the right-hand stack is original and set within the wall.

A two-storey wing is situated to the right, showing signs of having been heightened. It has two 4+4 pane casement windows on each floor. The left gable return has a two-over-two pane sash window below and a 3+3 pane casement above, both positioned behind the stack. The right return is obscured by the extension.

The rear elevation incorporates a two-storey extension to the left and a single-storey one to the centre, both 20th century. The central extension has a tall stack. Dormers have been added to the rear wall of the main block, along with a stair window.

A resurvey revealed considerable early 20th century alterations to the ground floor. However, the original living room retains evidence of its original, lower floor level and a probable 17th century fireplace with the original entrance door set in the gable wall. The staircase, located on the rear wall, is an early 20th century design with turned balusters. The ground floor of the extension was likely once used as a dairy.
