Description
This building, located at 2 Castle Parade, is a pair of late Victorian shops with living space above, connected on either side. It is constructed from red and yellow brick and features a slate roof with twin gables adorned with decorative applied timbering and apex finials. The roof has deeply overhanging bracketed boarded eaves and similar brick corniced stacks. The building showcases yellow brick quoins, window surrounds, eaves, and a billet-moulded string course. It stands three storeys tall. Each shop has a single window range with cross-framed glazing, featuring decorative squared glazing in the upper lights and plain glazing below. The top floor has tripartite windows, while the first floor features a canted bay. The shopfronts are paired plate glass with a deep fascia and side panels that are enriched with incised patterns, along with deep angled sills for the windows and side glazed doorways, and a plinth.
