Description
12 Middle Street is a large double-fronted townhouse that is attached on both sides and shares the same roofline, though not the roof pitch, with number 11. The building is constructed of stone rendered with scored pebbledash, featuring a machine-tile roof at the front and a slate roof at the back, with a low end stack. It stands three storeys tall and has a three-window range of paired sash windows in common exposed wood frames, with a central mullion. The windows are set in a shallow reveal with scored cement surrounds, and the centre window on the first floor has a semi-circular head.
On the ground floor, there is a wide central square-headed doorway set in a splayed recess, featuring a wooden door case with fluted pilasters that enclose an oblong panel above the architrave, supporting a shallow moulded hood. There are three steps leading up to a massive studded boarded door that has an ornamental knocker. The building also has a plinth, and the rear elevation is fitted with small-pane casement windows and a central doorway that has a replaced door.
