Description
2 Mount Pleasant is part of a terrace of Regency houses, numbered 2 to 11 Mount Pleasant and including No. 14 Steep Street, which are arranged in a stepped formation down the hillside. The walls are rendered, and the houses feature slate roofs with matching narrow end stacks, many of which still have slate pots. The buildings have a double-pile plan, with the rear elevation facing Steep Street, where there is an additional house. They are three storeys high and generally have two-window fronts, primarily with sash windows, most of which are set in reveals, although some have been replaced with casements. The doorways are semi-circular headed and located to the right. Number 2 is attached to the double-fronted number 1 on the uphill side.
Number 2 features rusticated quoins, an eaves cornice, and a replaced door set in a round-headed rusticated doorway with a fanlight that has radial glazing. The first floor has 16-pane sashes with small balconies, while the ground floor has replaced French windows.
