Description
5 St. John Street is a two-storey building with a narrow double depth plan, likely constructed in the 19th century. The exterior features roughcast rendering that is painted, probably over brick, and is topped with a natural slate roof that is mostly concealed by a parapet. The front facade has four doors and four windows on the ground floor arranged as follows: door, door, door, window, window, door, door, window. Above, there are six windows. The doors are plain four-panel types set in elliptical arched openings, while the sash windows have six over six panes and stone cills. The building has a painted plinth and a band over the first floor below the eaves, with shared stacks on the ridge. The rear elevation has not been seen.
Inside, the planning is notable because two of the houses have two upper floor windows, while the other two have one.
