Description

4 St. John Street is a two-storey building, likely dating from the 18th century, with a narrow, double-depth plan. The exterior is roughcast rendered and painted, probably over brickwork, and has a natural slate roof largely obscured by a parapet. The building has four windows and four doors on the ground floor, and six windows above. The front features plain, four-panel doors set within elliptical arched openings. Sash windows with twelve panes (6 over 6) are present, along with stone cills. A painted plinth and a band above the first floor, below the eaves, are also visible. Shared stacks are situated on the ridge. The rear elevation is not visible. The interior layout is notable for its unusual arrangement, with two of the houses having two upper-floor windows each, while the other two have only one.
