Description
The Yard Barn at Howick Farm is a building constructed from roughly coursed limestone rubble, topped with a pantiled roof. It features a central midstrey with a projecting gabled porch. Modern lean-tos are attached to all walls, which somewhat disguise their appearance, but the structure remains largely unchanged. There is a taking-in door located in the gable, and the roof has gable verges and ridge tiles. The yard entrance includes boarded doors with horizontal boarding above in the gable, while the rear doorway has been altered.
Inside, the barn boasts a five-bay roof that includes principal rafters, collars, ties, three tiers of purlins, a ridge piece, secondary rafters, and battens, all of which are complete and original.
