Description
The lychgate to the New Cemetery is a gabled timber structure dating from the 19th century, featuring a slate roof with terracotta ridge tiling and finials. It has an arched-brace design with a canted tie. The entrance is marked by a pair of set-back, wrought-iron Gothic gates that have quatrefoil bars. On either side, rubble walls curve outward and are topped with dressed stone coping beneath railings that also feature Gothic detailing. Gable-capped piers are located where these flanking walls meet the stepped boundary wall.
