Description
The lychgate and wall to Sopley Cemetery, built in the late 19th century, features brick walls with some stone dressings and a timber-frame lychgate topped with a tiled roof. The central lychgate is flanked by quadrant walls on either side, leading to further straight sections of wall. The walls are 2 meters high, have an offset plinth, and include piers at 2-meter intervals topped with stone caps. The central lychgate is supported by dressed stone piers and has a three-bay gate with a heavy timber crown-post roof. The main gabled roof has a narrow bell-cast roof all around and a carved timber gable. Between the front piers, there are double gates.
