Description
The former Risca Palace Cinema is a building that features a rectangular entrance block in front of a pitched-roof auditorium. The front is rendered, rusticated, and painted in contrasting shades. It has two storeys and three bays, with the center bay slightly recessed. The wide elliptical arched entrance is highlighted by prominent voussoirs, and this arch design is mirrored in the segmental arched central bay of the modillion cornice. Above the entrance, the words "RISCA PALACE" are displayed in relief, topped by a later sign, and below this is an oculus with a deep keystone and decorative swags.
On either side of the entrance, the first-floor windows are now blocked and feature moulded surrounds and deep aprons. The ground floor has paired cambered-arched openings with keyblocks and sills. The rustication continues around the side elevations, and to the right, there is a balustrade with an end pier that extends at first-floor level above a former shopfront.
The building was used as a bingo hall but is now disused, with reports indicating that the seating has been removed.
