Description
The timber footbridge by the former Ogilvie Halt is a Grade II listed structure featuring two timber spans supported by rockfaced sandstone abutments, which have rockfaced coping and a string course. The spans are connected by two central abutments that are joined back to back to create a massive pier. The western span has a flat wooden deck resting on three large timber beams, which are supported at their ends by shaped wooden corbels. Angled blades extend from the sides of the deck to support four-sectioned crossed balustrades made of timber with corrugated iron inner facings. The eastern span slopes downwards at about 20 degrees from the central pier, with a timber deck laid on four sloping beams supported by angled shear legs. These shear legs are joined by iron braces that rise from stone corbels in the abutments. Angled braces extend from the deck to support a planked parapet. The bridge is gated and currently barred, rendering it disused.
