Description
Barclay's Bank is a building featuring an upper storey made of Portland stone and a ground floor constructed with dark polished granite, which includes end porches. The design includes a modillion eaves cornice with a blocking course and a richly decorated swagged frieze. The centre of the building is recessed and has a tripartite arrangement supported by detached Corinthian columns, while the solid outer bays are enhanced with clasping Corinthian pilasters. The tall architrave surrounds are complemented by pulvinated friezes and alternating pediments, with plain sash windows. Above the granite ground floor, there is a freestone cornice that features arched openings and twin, blocked Doric columns in the outer bays. Additionally, arched fanlights are positioned over fluted lintels, with double doors on the right side, while the left side is blocked.
