Description
The Merthyr Tydfil War Memorial is a tall structure made of Portland stone, featuring a niche with a moulded arched top, tapering sides, and a stepped plinth that has flanking pedestals. At the center is a bronze figure representing one of the Three Fates, who is depicted bearing or measuring the Web of Life. This figure stands on a pedestal adorned with war trophies. On either side of the central figure are standing representations of a miner and a woman carrying a child.
A curved flight of steps leads down to a bronze guardrail from around 1930, which features a classical torch motif. Additionally, there are ironwork urns on the front wall of the memorial.
