Description
The Former Wesley Methodist Church, built in 1862, features an impressive three-bay late classical facade. The central bay is distinguished by a pediment and pilasters. The ground floor is made of channelled rustication in ashlar, while the upper part is covered in cement render, though some detailing has been simplified. A frieze inscribed with "WESLEY CHAPEL" is present. The central window is pilastered and has three lights, with a stepped design, moulded architraves, and frond lunettes, as well as marginal glazing-bars. The arched ground-floor windows are adorned with scallop-shell lunettes and aprons. The entrance consists of double doors beneath a radiating fanlight. The flank elevation is constructed from rubble with brickwork dressings, and the building has a slate roof. The interior has been recently subdivided.
