Former Rolling Mill at Treforest Tinplate Works

The Former Rolling Mill at Treforest Tinplate Works is a long building constructed from rubble stone, with brick eaves and a roof made of corrugated asbestos-cement featuring strip glazing and a raised ridge ventilator. The south gable end has three round-headed doorways, with the central doorway featuring a keystone dated 1835. Above these doorways are three stepped bullseye vents. The east wall displays round-headed openings that alternate with round vents, which have inserted brickwork. The central bays contain four smaller doorways situated between wider doorways. The north gable end has three stepped bullseye vents in the gable, along with three doorways below; the left-hand doorway has brick dressings and indicates a widening of the building, while the other two doorways and the vents are adorned with stone dressings.

The west wall, which faces the feeder, consists of 33 bays that have all been infilled, primarily with tall round-headed doorways. Seven openings feature sills that align with sluice gates in the feeder, allowing iron launders to bring water into the building for the waterwheels. This wall also includes three evenly-placed wider doorways.

The building was not accessible at the time of inspection.
