Description

The Cow House at Walgoch Farm is a large structure built of rubble stone with brick dressings and quoins, featuring an L-shaped plan formed by a main range and a lower wing. The north side, which faces the farmyard, has four pairs of doorways separated by three pairs of windows. The doorways have half-height boarded doors, while the windows are fitted with metal-framed glazing and include sliding vents. Above the right-hand side of each pair of windows, there are three boarded doors leading to the loft, along with a metal-framed window to the left above the right-hand doorway pair. The right gable end, which faces the house, has two wide doors for vehicle access, set under steel lintels, and a former feed passage doorway in the center that is now blocked.

On the rear side, there are five windows and a doorway positioned back from the windows at each end. The metal-framed windows have been widened above earlier segmental-headed openings, and the doorways feature boarded doors similar to those at the front. The west wall of the rear wing has four metal-framed windows, three of which include sliding vents, along with doorways located in the center and center-right. The left gable end of the main range has a central feed-passage door flanked by windows, with a similar arrangement for the loft door and flanking windows. The gable end and the rear wing are enclosed by a later lean-to addition.
