Description

Cefn Mabley Farmhouse is a double-pile plan building dating from the 18th century, featuring pebbledash over local stone and slate roofs. The front block is two stories high with three windows and end chimneys made of exposed stone. On the ground floor, there is a doorway to the right and windows in the center and to the left. The flat-headed window openings have stone lintels and sills. At the time of the visit, all openings were boarded over, but the windows were previously wooden casements with octagonal panes. There is a Gothic doorway leading to an attached garden wall at a right angle to the right side. The gable ends have no openings.

The rear block includes an external red brick stack on the west gable end and a boarded window at ground floor level to its right, which has a stone lintel and sill and was formerly fitted with 20th-century glazing. The east gable end has similar windows on each floor, with the lower storey window boarded. The rear features two window openings on the upper storey and a very small light in between. Downstairs, there is a lean-to porch on the left, a window in the center, and a rear range adjoining to the right, which is single storey, made of rubble stone with a slate roof and a tall brick end stack. This range has a window with uPVC glazing on its west side and a boarded door on the rendered east side.

Access to the interior was not available at the time of inspection, but it is reported to have a narrow hall and a straight staircase to the right, with a living room to the left and a kitchen and scullery at the rear retaining a stone slab.
