Description
The dovecote in the gardens of St Fagans Castle is a Grade II listed structure. It features stone walls that are now covered in cement render, except for part of the south elevation. The roof is made of Welsh slate and has a bellcast shape with sprocketted eaves and a lantern on top. The building has a square plan.
On the south elevation, there is a small louvred opening situated below the eaves, along with a doorway that has a slightly cambered brick head and a boarded door. The swept eaves provide cover for the pigeon entries, and there is a timber perching ledge that runs all the way around the structure. The lantern is glazed with three by three panes.
The interior was not available for inspection during the resurvey, but it is reported to have an iron ladder that provides access to the pigeon loft.
