Description

The Llandaff War Memorial features three bronze figures standing on separate granite plinths. In the center is a female figure representing Llandaff, dressed in Celtic attire, with her right forearm raised and her left arm protected by a shield. The base of her statue is decorated with a Celtic scroll pattern. To her left is a young soldier in undress, holding a rifle on his left shoulder with his left leg extended. To her right is a soldier or cadet, with his right leg bent at the knee and slightly forward, holding a rifle with its butt resting on the ground. The central plinth is inscribed with the words, "Llandaff remembers her own sons and those of the Cathedral School who gave their lives in the Great War and in the Second World War - Son sibi sed patriae."
