Description

This is a pair of navigation lamps located to the east of Bute West Dock Basin, designed to assist vessels entering the dock. The south lamp is made of cast iron and features a fluted plinth shaped like a bound bundle of sticks, with a tulip-like base leading to a tapering shaft and a cross bar. The shaft supports a ship's lamp with a red lens facing south.

The north lamp is identical to the south lamp, but it is raised approximately 60 centimeters on an additional plinth. This elevation allows boats in the bay to align the lamps, providing a clear course for navigating into the dock.
