Description
Nos. 1 and 2 Cardiff Road are a pair of semi-detached estate cottages built from random rubble limestone with a 'vertical crazy paving' style. They feature dressed long-and-short quoins and rusticated window surrounds, topped with a Welsh slate roof. Each cottage is L-shaped and they are joined at the forward projecting wing. The buildings are two stories tall, with modern lattice casements on each floor of the forward projection. The gable of No. 1 has scalloped bargeboards and a spike finial, while the other gable has a spike finial as well. There is a porch with a lean-to roof on the return side, with the other returns being blind. The rear wing of each cottage has a casement on each floor, similar to the front, and both gables feature spike finials. They share a central stack, and each house has a kitchen stack located behind the rear wing. The rear elevation was not seen during the resurvey. The interior has not been inspected.
