Description

Fonmon Cottage is a two-storey house dating from the 18th century, featuring stone walls and a slate gable roof. It has a large chimney stack on the southwest side and a slender stone stack on the northeast side. The front or southeast wall is clad in stucco. Starting from the southwest end, there is a narrow single light rectangular opening leading to a cupboard above a bench. The ground floor includes a sash window with glazing bars and horns, which has an internal window seat, along with a 20th-century two-light casement window with a top opening light above it. There is also a centrally located ground floor sash window with glazing bars and horns, which was originally a doorway, and a fourth window with glazing bars and horns on the ground floor, accompanied by a two-light window with a top opening light above it.

To the right, there is a single-storey service wing with modern windows and a slate asbestos roof. On the southwest side, a lean-to features a half-glazed door in the front wall and a low two-storey wing behind it, which has a chimney stack on the southwest end and a small sash window on the ground floor with a smaller single-light window above. There is also a lean-to at the rear, which has rounded southwest walls. The rear elevation of the main building includes a rectangular slit opening for the stair.

The interior has not been inspected but is reported to retain joist ceilings, a south fireplace with flanking cupboards, and an arched doorway with voussoirs in the partition wall.
