Description

The Tudor Tavern Public House is a two-storey building with a west wing featuring a stuccoed three-bay front. It has a Welsh slate roof and stone and brick stacks. On the ground floor, there are modern windows that are six panes wide and five panes high at each end, along with a probably original stopped and chamfered square-headed doorway to the right of the centre, which has a modern boarded door. The first floor has three 2-light casements beneath elliptical heads.

The taller east wing is faced with coursed limestone and includes red tile string courses and bands. It has a hipped pyramidal roof topped with a terracotta finial. This wing features two large three-light segmental-headed windows with transoms and mullions, as well as small panes in the upper lights, on both the ground and first floors. There are additional similar windows on the return elevation.

At the rear, there is an old arched doorway in the yard or garden wall leading to Burial Lane, with lower jambs that are not chamfered, suggesting it may not be in its original position.

The interior was not seen during the resurvey, but the building appears to have remained unaltered since it was listed. The previous listing description notes that inside, on the west end wall south of the fireplace, there is a stopped and chamfered arched doorway dating from the late 16th to early 17th century, which formerly led into No 1 A, along with the jamb of a contemporary doorway to the south. This information is confirmed by the Royal Commission on the Ancient and Historical Monuments of Wales.
