Description

The Cross in the churchyard of the Church of St. Illtud is a medieval structure featuring the lower part of the shaft and an octagonal stone base with pyramidal stops. Both the shaft and base are set on six square stone steps that decrease in size as they rise. The crosshead displays a depiction of the Crucifixion on one side and an image of St. Illtyd, the Patron Saint, on the other. An 1830 print by Gastineau illustrates the shaft before it had its canopied head.
