Description
The war memorial is designed as a Celtic Cross and is set on a repaired base made up of four square stone steps that decrease in height as they rise. The top step features a modern iron railing. At the base of the cross, there is a bronze plaque that lists the names of those who fell in World War I. In front of the cross, a marble Book of Honour is inscribed with the names of the fallen from World War II. The shaft of the cross narrows and is adorned with interlace decoration, topped with a wheel-head that also features interlace and a central boss. The design may have been influenced by the Samson Cross in the West Church, although it does not match that cross's quality of design and finish.
