Description
81 High Street is a three-storey building with a three-bay elevation, featuring pebbledash cladding and a slate gabled roof topped with a red brick stack on the right side. The building has sash windows throughout. The ground floor showcases a central pedimented doorcase with a plain fanlight above a six-panelled door. On either side of the door, there are storeyed canted three-light bay windows that extend to the first floor. The central first-floor window is a single-light sash window with marginal glazing bars. The second floor has sash windows that are four panes wide, with the left-hand window featuring horns.
Inside, the central walls of the ground floor passage have been removed, but the left-hand ground floor "room" still has an early 19th-century fireplace with a reeded architrave and angle blocks, along with flanking cupboards that have three-panelled doors. The right-hand "room" contains a 19th-century fireplace. A rear staircase, contemporary to the building, has straight balusters and a hardwood rail. The first floor has four-panelled doors, and there is a small bedroom grate on the second floor.
