Description
The Old Hall is a two-storey building dating from the 19th century. It features a porch and a north gable that is faced with stone in snecked courses. The porch and gable are positioned between recessed blocks of three and four windows, with the ground floor clad in cement render and the first floor finished with pebbledash. The roofs are covered with slate. To the right of the gable, there is a block with a Tudor doorway and a window to the right, followed by a long wing where the roof slopes down over the first floor.
The 18th-century rear wing retains the ground floor of the southwest elevation as a screen. This section is made of rusticated ashlar and features later 20th-century tracery in the window openings. The central projection has a pedimented Ionic entrance, flanked by single round-headed window openings on each side, which are further flanked by Venetian window openings. The building has two gables at the ends of the former wings.
There is a long, renovated northwest wing that includes a vehicular gateway at the northwest end. Beyond this gateway, a stone boundary wall mostly retains its plinth and coping, extending to the southeast end of Ye Olde Masons Arms. Inside, there is a 16th or 17th-century stopped and chamfered fireplace on the first floor.
