Description
Pendoylan Cottages is a row of five two-storey cottages, each one window wide, built in 1817, along with an attached taller two-storey house at the uphill end. The cottages are constructed from rubble and have lime rendered elevations. The layout consists of two reflected pairs of cottages and a single cottage at the downhill end. The windows and doors are stepped down, while the slate roof interestingly follows the slope of the land. The cottages feature roughcast chimneys, one later brick chimney, and boarded eaves. They have two-light casement windows, some of which have been replaced on the first floor, and boarded doors. At the rear, there are two lean-to outshuts that were rebuilt in 1995. The uphill house has freestone dressings and a modern slate roof with stone chimneys. It has a one-window front with a four-centred arched doorway and a gable above the first-floor window, along with a boarded door and modern casement glazing, and a rear cross range.
