Description
Dinas Powys Parish Hall is a village hall built in the Arts and Crafts style. The walls are rendered with roughcast and painted, featuring some applied half-timbering. It has a slate roof with deeply overhanging boarded sprocketed eaves and a tall rendered lateral stack, along with a large ridge ventilator and a terracotta finial. The main hall is oriented end-on to the road, with a front bay and a porch that is stepped back to the side. There is also an attached single-storey cross-gabled office and kitchen range.
The hall features lattice casement windows throughout. The gable end facade has battered sides, with a central two-storey bay that has wide windows. The first floor is half-timbered, while the ground floor is battered, and the roof extends over in a shallow hip. A black and white string course separates the storeys, with side windows flanking the bay—two-light windows on the first floor and oculi with a painted keystone surround on the ground floor. To the right, there is a small gabled half-timbered porch set against the office bay, which has a multipane window, and a catslide roof behind it over the kitchen range. The uphill side on the left has five battered buttresses that separate the large multipane windows.
Inside, the hall features a segmental arched gallery with a panelled front at the street end and a stage opposite. The open-roofed hall has five bays with arch-braced trusses, swing doors, and deep multipane side windows.
