Description
Downs Farmhouse is a large farmhouse built with rendered stone walls and a slate roof featuring end and ridge stacks. The building has two storeys and an attic, with a plan that includes a lobby entry leading to a central back-to-back fireplace that divides the hall and parlour. The symmetrical frontage has a narrow central entrance bay that projects forward, with a roof extending over it; the front door has a rectangular window above. There are two windows on each side, all featuring decorative 20th-century glazing in the casements.
Inside, the farmhouse retains its original layout, including open fireplaces that are back to back. It reportedly has broad chamfered beams with ovolo stops and one fireplace bressumer with a sunk chamfer.
