Description
Maencoch is a farmhouse constructed from slate-hung rubble stone, featuring a slate roof and red brick end stacks. The building is two storeys high and has a three-window range that is significantly offset to the right. It includes small and narrow four-pane horned sash windows and a door set within a 20th-century porch-conservatory. The left end wall is rendered. At the rear, there is an outshut that has a window to the left, a door to the right, and a four-pane window in the right end wall.
The interior follows a central hall plan with a room on each side. The hall is divided by pine partitions. A dogleg stair with a moulded rail and square newel leads to the upper floor. The left room features a very large inglenook fireplace with a massive oak lintel, and there is a corbelled area to the right. Inside, there is a bread oven and a blocked fire window. The farmhouse has 19th-century panelled doors. The rear dairy, located in the outshut, has rough joists. The first floor also has pine partitions and boarded ceilings, while the roof structure consists of relatively thin tie-beam and collar trusses with double purlins.
