Description

White Swan Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from around 1600. It features a timber-framed structure that is rendered and topped with double roman tiles. The building has two storeys and attics, arranged in a three-cell lobby-entrance plan. The internal chimney stack has a wide, plain, rebuilt red brick shaft. At the front of the stack, there is a high gable that projects from the roof, adorned with pierced and fluted bargeboards and a spike finial, along with a single-light window at the apex.

The upper floor includes three three-light casement windows from the 20th century, with a bar, and one single-light window. The ground floor has three standard 20th-century casement windows. Access is through a 20th-century plank door that has a glazed panel. The frame consists of four bays, which includes a chimney bay. Inside, the hall and parlour feature chamfered main beams with curved stepped stops and grooves, while the joists are chamfered and set flat. The back of the parlour fireplace shows rounded brickwork, and the upper fireplace has a cut-down timber lintel.

The upper gable ends reveal good exposed studding, with main posts that have long jowls and arched braces that have been removed. There is a shutter-slide in the rear wall plate. The roof is structured in four bays, featuring clasped purlins and arched windbraces, with the collars removed. Additionally, a single-storey lean-to has been added along the entire rear of the farmhouse.
